Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Administrator
Status: Full Time/Exempt
Reports to: Director, Human Resources
Location: Central Region
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan) and manages all activities related to semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll processing. The payroll and benefits administrator also provides excellent customer service and takes the lead in responding to employee’s questions regarding timesheets, salary calculations and paid time off balances. This position will oversee tax and retirement reporting from payroll provider for accounting purposes.
Job Description
Benefits
- Designs, recommends and implements benefits programs and assists in the management of the benefits plan renewal process.
- Serves as primary contact for plan vendors, third-party administrators and staff.
- Conduct monthly benefits enrollment meetings with staff.
- Works effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations.
- Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required filings.
- Complete required reports in accordance ACA.
Payroll
- Process bi-weekly (hourly) and semi-monthly (salary) payroll for Central and Southwest Regions.
- Cost payroll per project.
- Process garnishments and deductions.
- Input commissions, bonus, adjustments and miscellaneous pay items.
- Prepare payroll journal entries.
- Prepare quarterly payroll and tax general ledger reconciliations.
- Review all monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll tax reports prepared by payroll vendor and confirm funds transmitted to governmental agencies.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years payroll and benefits experience required including experience with project based payroll
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
- Very high degree of integrity
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements (both adopted and pending) affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts
- PHR Certification required
- GBA certificate preferred
- Insurance license a plus
- Advanced knowledge MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and Power Point)
- Valid driver’s license and clean MVR
- Position is located in Orlando, however, travel will be required
