Job Purpose:
Develops and nurtures preschool children ages 3 to 4 by implementing educational programs; providing day-care; keeping children safe; Preparing children for VPK.
Duties:
Stimulates emotional, intellectual, and social growth of students by developing and directing educational programs and activities tailored to assigned class; supervising day care.
Provides safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean, and appealing facilities; eliminating or removing known safety hazards; following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal recommendations.
Encourages students' development by implementing lesson plans, teaching developmental skills (motor; social/emotional, language/communications and cognitive skills) through the High Scope and implementing Conscious Discipline.
Keeps parents informed by posting parent information in the classroom, schedules and other mandated information on parent board; by assessing, maintaining and sharing records of children's progress and behavior.
Encourages development of student self-control by utilizing classroom management and modeling techniques. Manages difficult behaviors and keeps a good control of the children in care at all times.
Attends all required training and monthly staff meetings.
Skills/Qualifications:
Safety Management, keeping control in the classroom, Listening, Verbal Communication, Resolving Conflict, Managing difficult behaviors, Self-Motivated, Deals with Uncertainty, Objectivity, Confidentiality, Emotional Control; DCF mandated 45 hrs. training.
Credentials validated by DCF. AA in ECE or CD; or CDA required.
Experience Required: 2+ to 5 Years
Education Required: CDA, or Associate Degree in ECE or CD
