OVERVIEW/POSITION PURPOSE:

The Director of Special Events is a key member of the Development team in the creation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to provide sustainable revenue and awareness.  Primary focus will include local proprietary development events, marketing of nationwide and international fundraising events, cause marketing, awareness campaigns and management of external constituent special events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and execute a comprehensive action plan and timeline to build and steward fundraising, awareness goals related to special events.
  • Prepare and disseminate budgets, monthly forecasts, and communicative reporting related to events for President, Leadership Team members and GKTW Board.
  • Manage proprietary Central Florida events including, but are not limited to, the Black & White Gala, Gingerbread Run 5K, GKTW Golf Tournament and O-Town MacDown.
  • Manage event campaigns and proprietary cause marketing initiatives domestic and internationally including, but not limited to, Ice Cream Social Campaign.
  • Manage the process of engaging interested individuals, families and organizations nationwide through our existing special events models or their own creative activities with an eye on cultivating long term relationships and stewardship.  
  • Directly supervise Senior Manager and Assistant Manager including functions of performance evaluations, coaching, training and merit planning.
  • Exemplify and maintain accountability for Village mission, standards, and core values for staff and volunteers.
  • Represent Village as key leadership at local, national, and international events and participant engagements; liaison/support corporate events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to travel for extended overnight occasions
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery operated golf cart
  • Ability to lift and transfer 25 lbs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • BA/BS in business management, preferably philanthropy, events marketing, and/or sales
  • At least 5+ years of event planning, business management, marketing and sales.
  • Non-profit experience is preferred.
