The YMCA of Central Florida is looking for a dynamic cause driven fundraiser with proven experience raising millions annually in individual and corporate fundraising as the Executive Director of Financial Development. The Y is a recognized leader within the YMCA movement in financial development; as one of the largest YMCA Associations in the country with an annual operating budget growing to over $75 million. The position will based at our Metro / Corporate office located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. This individual will execute Association financial development initiatives under the direction of the Senior Vice President. The incumbent will support the Senior Vice President and Vice President, as well as have direct responsibilities for developing and implementing successful fundraising campaign plans; including annual giving, capital, planned giving and programmatic support. The incumbent will actively manage a prospect pipeline of at least 150 individuals and corporations, as well as build a strong prospect portfolio utilizing the moves management model of philanthropy to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit and steward donors. Metrics for success will including raising $1.5 million within the first year, $3 million within the second year, and $5 million within the third year.  Critical competencies include – strong fundraising skills with high level donors and corporate partners, business acumen, fiscal management with comparable revenue responsibilities, and the ability to build relationships and influence diverse individuals and industries to impact financial outcomes.

The incumbent should have a propensity to project a positive, professional attitude and look for innovative solutions to overcome obstacles. S/he will be required to work flexible hours, especially during capital campaigns and events that can include late evenings, weekends and holidays. S/he must be willing and able to travel within Central Florida up to 70%. Key objectives are strategically cultivate and solicit fundraising opportunities, create partnerships with corporate and private sectors for programming capital, as well as develop and engage volunteers / boards to position the YMCA of Central Florida as the premier “Charity of Choice” within the local community.  Our Association is enjoying tremendous growth while providing national leadership in the areas of Health Strategies, Youth Development and Community Collaborations. Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; business, nonprofit management or related field of study preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in philanthropy, with a background in successful Financial Development/Fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful six/seven figure gift requests highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of capital and comprehensive campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with key volunteers and boards. Ability to relate to top community leader and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the Central Florida community.
  • Prior experience and knowledge about the YMCA, either as an employee, member, donor or volunteer is desirable.
  • Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and Outlook required.

  • Energetic, flexible, organized, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact financial development initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, board of directors, and staff
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel up to 70% within Central Florida.
