SHUTTLE VAN DRIVER

PAY RATE: $8.05 (Per Hour) plus TIPS

SCHEDULE: This position operates within a 24/7 environment that may require applicants to work day, evening, and/or night shifts as well as holidays and weekends.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

Under supervision of the Driver Manager, performs various tasks relating to the transport of passengers in passenger vans.

TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Operates a passenger van safely and efficiently. Follows specific regularly scheduled routes, charter routes or responds to requests from dispatch or management for unscheduled pick ups or drop offs.  Assists passengers in boarding and exiting vehicle. Loads and unloads luggage, packages and other items. Transmits and receives over two  way radio system.  Monitors traffic and weather conditions and notifies dispatch of potential problems.  Reports accidents or other safety situations to dispatch. Counts money and makes correct change for passenger fares. Inspects exterior and interior of vehicle at beginning of each shift for properly operating headlights, turn signals, brake lights, interior courtesy lamps, air conditioning or heating, warning lamps, mirror adjustment, properly inflated tires, windshield wipers, vehicle damage, etc. prior to moving vehicle.  Responsible for ensuring inside and outside of vehicle are properly cleaned and fueled on an ongoing basis.  Keeps interior of vehicle neat and orderly.  Monitors vehicle condition and records malfunctioning items or damage on a Vehicle Deadline form and submits to cashier.  Accurately completes driver trip sheet for each shift with information including driver number, vehicle number, number of passengers, pick up and drop off times, mileages, fares, destinations, etc. Learns and provides guests and passengers with appropriate information regarding lodging, entertainment and attractions within service area.  Learns and remembers locations of various destination points serviced by the fleet including lodging, entertainment and attraction sites. Treats all guests, customers, and other persons in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. Also may be required to perform other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Availability:  Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Education:  No formal education required.

Experience:  None required.

Driving History: Some driving experience preferred.

Skill At:  Good oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of: Greater Orlando area.

Licenses: Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must have fewer than the following number of points on his/her motor vehicle record: 3 points in the past year, 6 points in the past two years, and 9 points in the past three years.

Permits: City of Orlando Vehicle Driver’s Permit ($25.00, good for 1 year). Osceola County Operator’s Permit ($50.00, good for 3 years; included in uniform/equipment payroll deduction.)

Special Requirements: Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Must be able to pass Department of Transportation physical exam and successfully complete an Alcohol/Drug screening process. Must also be available to work flexible hours. MUST BE NON TOBACCO USER.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to sustain a work load consisting of exerting 25 to 50 or more pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages for calculating passenger fares, providing change and completing trip sheets.
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently operate a passenger van.
  • Must be able to communicate by telephone, two-way radio and in person in clear fluent English in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner with customers, guests, co-workers and other persons.
  • Must be able to learn and remember pick-up and destination points serviced by the fleet including lodging, entertainment and attraction sites and be able to communicate these to guests, passengers or other persons.
  • Must be able to read, understand and complete driver trip sheets and deadline forms, and read and understand inter-office communications, schedules or other documents.
