Village on the Green, a Lifespace Community located in Longwood, Florida is an upscale, gated residential community located on a 50-acre site, which includes a 20-acre nature preserve. The community contains 42 villas, 202 one and two bedroom apartment homes and health center. The amenities includes excellent cuisine at our fine dining restaurant as well as housekeeping, maintenance, 24 on-site security, transportation and quality health care.

Our Home Health division of Village on the Green is searching for qualified CNA candidates to work Perdiem/Casual (less than 24 hours a week).  Days and hours will vary as services are based on client needs and schedules.  

POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Nursing Assistant/ Home Health Aide (CNA/HHA) provides personal care and related services in the home. He/she functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Staff Nurse and the Director of Nursing and/or appropriate supervisor.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks to be performed by a CNA/HHA must be assigned by and performed under the supervision of an RN who will be responsible for the client care provided by the CNA/HHA. Under no circumstances may a CNA/HHA be assigned to receive or reduce any intravenous procedures, procedures involving the use of Levin tubes or Foley catheters, or any other sterile or invasive procedures, other than rectal temperatures or enemas. Except as otherwise noted, a CNA/HHA:

  • Helps the client to maintain good personal hygiene
  • Assists in maintaining a healthful, safe environment
  • Plans and prepares nutritious meals.
  • Markets when instructed to do so by the nurse.
  • Assists the client with ambulation or exercise
  • Assists in administering medications that are ordinarily self-administered as approved and supervised by the nurse
  • Assists with certain treatments as ordered by the physician and approved and supervised by the nurse
  • Assists the therapy personnel as needed with rehabilitative processes
  • Encourages the client to become as independent as possible according to the nursing care plan
  • Attempts to promote client's mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest
  • Gives simple emotional and psychological support to the client and other members of the household
  • Establishes a relationship with client and family which transmits trust and confidentiality
  • Prepares a report of his/her visit on the day it is performed and incorporates same in the clinical record weekly or as directed
  • Reports any change in the client's mental or physical condition or in his/her home situation to his/her immediate supervisor, the Staff Nurse, or to the Aide supervisor
  • Carries out his/her assignment as instructed by the nurse or the paramedical team and reports to the nurse when unable to do so
  • Works with personnel of other community agencies involved in the client's care as directed by the Staff Nurse
  • Performs routine housekeeping tasks as related to a safe and comfortable environment for the client, as instructed by the Professional Nurse
  • Attends in-service as required by state and federal regulations
  • Confirms on a weekly basis, the scheduling of visits with the Supervisor/Director, to coordinate necessary visits with other personnel
  • Notifies the Agency of absences due to illness, emergency leave, normal vacation periods, or special professional meetings, which will affect agreed service with the Agency

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience
  • Certifications and licensure required by state regulations.
  • Completion of a basic aide training program consistent with state and federal requirements and for which a certificate was obtained.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Has a reliable means of transportation.  Must have a valid state driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements
  • Satisfactory performance on a competency evaluation and annual reevaluation
  • Has the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, client's family, and the personnel of the Agency.
  • Has a reliable means of transportation.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking and standing functions.  The position also often requires reaching, lifting and carrying 20 pounds unassisted, balancing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, and feeling activities.  Frequent repetitive motion activities are also required. Must be able to read print and computer based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy.  Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature. May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors and a variety of different pets.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:   The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure.  The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.  This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities on a daily basis while being responsive to needs as they arise.
