Service Personnel II (Maintenance Worker)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Keeps Agency offices, buildings, and grounds in good repair and cleanliness.  Arranges and oversees repairs and servicing that need to be done by vendors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Performs general repair and maintenance of facilities to include but not limited to carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs. Conducts preventative maintenance checks for building fixtures and equipment and takes steps necessary to correct item(s).  Maintains Agency vehicles by having vehicles checked and serviced periodically.  Accurately logs all repairs and servicing.  Completes facility related service requests as assigned.  Runs errands, and picks up and delivers supplies as necessary.  This may include pickup and delivery of meals for classrooms.  Performs spot cleaning of facilities. Assists contracted maintenance and repair services as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs.  Ability to analyze and correct the majority of facility and equipment malfunctions.  Knowledge of general maintenance tasks.  Knowledge of building maintenance techniques and repairs.  Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in maintenance and repair duties.  Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.  Ability to perform heavy manual labor tasks under adverse weather conditions.  Ability to work and communicate with people from various multi-cultural backgrounds and socio-economic levels.  Sensitivity to the needs, abilities, beliefs, and attitudes of individuals within and outside the Agency, including but not limited to clients and co-workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEOne (1) year experience in a variety of maintenance skills, such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing or related fields.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSPossession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.  Must have no suspension or revocation of Driver’s License in the previous 36 months.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in various forms. Ability to bend, stoop, crawl and otherwise access areas of building for repair and maintenance. Manual dexterity for use of tools. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

PAY RATE:  $12.00 per hour w/ excellent benefits                                  PAY GRADE:  4
