CLASSIFICATION: GIS Analyst
HOURS: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (M-F) – Onsite, no virtual work arrangements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in GIS Technology, Planning or a closely related field required. ArcGIS server administration certification and GISP License preferred.
Four years of progressive experience demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of the use and application of GIS data and technologies.
A Master’s Degree or higher level degree from an accredited institution may substitute for two years of experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License and maintain insurability under the District's commercial vehicle coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction of GIS Administrator, develops GIS applications for the District; writes software for system enhancement, and maintains GIS data and meta-data. Work within the scope of the District’s GIS system. Follow standard and protocols for data collection, storage, and updates, and supervise related activity to ensure compliance. Provide application system support for GIS users across the District. Create new databases, restore data, and perform routine maintenance. Create backups, and manage user access. Ensure that database integrity is maintained through the implementation of a data management (meta-data) system. Interact regularly with other county agencies, local governments, and the private sector. Provide GIS technical information to vendors and others to assist in the related to integration of applications onto the GIS platform. Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. Researches deeds, surveys, previous maps and other records to obtain data needed to maintain right-of-way, land ownership, regulatory permitting, tax and real estate records.
Collects and summarizes information from field and file investigations into easily-readable spatial format. Prepares reports – including maps, statistical tabulations, charts and graphs to illustrate analysis on diverse issues including population demographics, housing, transportation, land use and public rights-of-way usage.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Demonstrated knowledge of GIS software tools and applications including but not limited to: ESRI ArcGIS, ArcSDE, AutoCAD Suite, SQL, and MS Visio. Practices and standards required for maintaining District’s GIS data. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other required software programs. Demonstrate complete understanding of GIS hardware and software applications development methods, tools, and utilities. Demonstrate effective positive listening, oral and written communications including the development and delivery of presentations and training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
PAY: Pay ranges from $903 to $1,449 weekly.
