Vice President of Finance, YMCA of Central Florida - Corporate Office

Through our expediential growth and innovative direction, the YMCA of Central Florida is looking for a dynamic and experienced finance executive as the right hand to the Chief Financial Officer as the Vice President of Finance. This individual will have a broad set of critical and complex responsibilities with direct access; as a member of the senior executive team, and the ability to have enterprise-wide and community impact.

The ideal candidate is career-minded with strong technical skills in public accounting and proven successes in a senior management role, possess superior interpersonal skills, and is seeking to build in their career and grow within our fast-paced organization. The incumbent will have direct responsibility for oversight of all accounting, financial system, cash flow and efficiency analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Critical competencies include – strong business acumen, analytical and accounting experience, fiscal management with comparable budgeted responsibilities, and the ability to build relationships and influence all levels of management that will directly impact financial outcomes and create cost savings. This individual is responsible for the development of the organization’s financial management strategy and contributing to the development and successful execution of the strategic goals. S/he will ensure the organization is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to senior officers, external stakeholders and board members as required. The incumbent will have a direct relationship with senior management and advise on financial planning budgeting, investment priorities and policy matters. A key objective is to improve administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, grants payment processing, payroll, accounts payable and purchasing. This individual must have demonstrated excellence in building infrastructure and instituting improved financial reporting, controls analysis, budgeting and forecasting disciplines.  Must be highly analytical, adept with number and financial engineering with the ability to spot trends and possess exemplary communication skills capable of interpreting, synthesizing and communicating with important stakeholders. This individual must be a results oriented team player able to pivot between overall business perspectives and hands-on management.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field is mandatory. MBA or other relevant advanced degree required.
  • Active CPA and minimum 5 years of public account experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organization.
  • Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization; must be familiar with nonprofit finance and accounting regulations.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
  • Superior management skills; ability to engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, board of directors, and staff.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
