SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Responsible for being knowledgeable on the capabilities of the Symitar system in regards to PowerOn programming, standard batch programming options, forms and Episys parameter settings. This position is responsible for the design, development and implementation of application development projects and system maintenance efforts. Work involves working on multiple high-level projects concurrently. Resources to do the job require reliance on technical knowledge of programming concepts, architecture and process enhancement. Direction is received from the IT Manager  & VP of Information Technology.

  • Responsible for full life cycle development including design, implementation, testing and maintenance of beginner to intermediate PowerOn programs and subsystems. Writes efficient code that follows credit union defined standards and naming conventions.
  • Conducts detailed analysis of system interactions to determine technical solutions and resolves problems which are cost effective and consistent with user needs, system capacities and capabilities.
  • Works with other departments and/or vendors on project development. Attends meetings with appropriate employees or vendors to obtain necessary information and direction to proceed with the development and success of the project.
  • Modifies existing software to meet branch and/or department employee’s requirements. Maintains and modifies code that is in production to comply with system changes and new CU specifications. Debugs existing code to ensure minimal user downtime and maintain maximum member service.
  • Utilizes effective project management techniques in planning, estimating, controlling and completing assignments
  • Works with IT team to troubleshoot complex problems to identify if code related.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. (including help desk support to all internal team members)

QUALIFICATIONS:

2.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (Please indicate required or preferred)

 

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Technology or Business Administration
  • Minimum of two years of Financial Institution experience is desired
  • PowerOn 1 and PowerOn 2 core system certifications and code writing experience
  • Must be able to develop creative solutions to business problems and work well within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to view both detail and big picture.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

PowerOn 1 and PowerOn 2 certifications

 

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING:

  • Core system training
  • Integrity Service Training
  • Complete, monitor and report all suspicious activity, comply with BSA requirements including completion of annual training.
  • Complete basic managerial and leadership courses for HR Compliance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, speak and write in English proficiently; speak effectively to a member or team member and/or before a group.
  • Fluent in Spanish is helpful but not required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Aptitude to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate fractions, percentages, ratios and averages to create credit union reports.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Communicate expectations, provide timely response to situations, able to justify and follow through on decisions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Capacity to define problems; gather data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills highly motivated and well organized excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products, excel, word, power point, outlook etc.
  • Strong management skills in the area of staff career development and motivation, coaching and supervising, and risk management.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, maintain integrity of confidential member and team member information.
