Reporting to the Senior Director of Development and Operations, the Desktop Administrator is responsible for maintenance and administration of information technology resources such as software and computer systems to ensure high levels of availability and security throughout the enterprise. This position interacts with other team members participating in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure availability, support, and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with team members on support related issues in a technical support role
  • Responds to requests from users via telephone, e-mail, walk-ins and chat in a courteous manner, and creates relevant documentation as needed
  • Assists with documenting processes and procedures
  • Creates required reports in response to business user needs
  • Recommends software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases
  • Utilizes existing documentation to complete recurring tasks
  • Manages maintenance of software and systems in organization
  • Assists with communications ([e-mail, IM, etc.]) and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications
  • Monitors systems to ensure they have the latest updates and security patches; works with more experienced team members to resolve discrepancies
  • Assists in troubleshooting of internal and datacenter network/server issues
  • Deploys workstations, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all security systems
  • Monitors back-ups of servers and related systems
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Ensures adherence to company I.T. policies and procedures
  • Manages end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • On-call for production systems support
  • Minimal travel required
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand tools, and to handle other computer components
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals (no greater than 40 pounds)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Hands-on experience supporting, troubleshooting and maintaining Windows Desktop OS (7/8/8.1/10).Basic Active Directory knowledge (joining workstations to domain, creating users and groups, using Group Policy objects, etc.). Networking skills and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc. Knowledge of Switches, Routers and Firewalls is a plus. VMWare or other server virtualization tools is a plus. Basic Microsoft SQL abilities (Writing queries, views, stored procedures, SSIS, etc.) is a plus.Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems 2003-2012 R2. Exchange/Office 365 experience is desirable

Education:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or information technology and/or a minimum 2 years’ equivalent work experience
  • Industry certifications (i.e. CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCSE, CCNA) are desirable (but not required)
