Problem solving, superior technical skills, and possessing the ability to use good judgment under pressure are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in our Craftsworkers.

Craftsworkers at Universal Orlando are responsible for:

  • Gathering and preparing necessary information, tools and items needed to complete assigned tasks.

  • Responsible for fiberglass mold making (hard and flexible) in Facilities Maintenance.

  • Performing fiberglass and gel coat repairing and sculpting in Facilities Maintenance.

  • Performing maintenance and artwork on cementious rock materials, including Carving, Forming, Shaping, and Stamps.

  • Completing maintenance of exterior facades as it relates to all types of cementious materials, including polymer modified & EIF Systems.

  • Performing netting and rigging to include rope braiding, lashings and repairing in Queue Lines and Ride perimeters Facilities Maintenance.

  • Cleaning up work area: consists of picking up used tarps, tools and materials and then storing equipment/tools in designated storage area.

  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

To perform the role of a Craftsworker successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

  • High school degree or GED is required. Technical school is preferred.

  • Associate's degree (AA): art school is preferred.

  • 3-5 years general carpentry, construction, fiberglass and mold fabrication required. A combination of education and experience also considered.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License is required to operate company vehicles.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Craftsworker job.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) walk for prolonged periods (including ability to walk at a given pace that is predetermined by a moving sidewalk); talk; use hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb stairs/ladders; work at heights for prolonged periods of time including heights with or without railings or over open pits greater than 4 feet; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach, pull, push with hands and arms above/below head; repeat motions more than twice per minute; use close vision with or without corrective lens. (clear vision at 20 inches or less); use distance vision with or without corrective lens. (clear vision at 20 feet or more); use color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); use peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); use depth perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g., sunshine to indoor or dark conditions); work in varied light conditions including low or diminished lighting; maintain alertness and attentiveness up to 4 hours while working varying hours; maintain concentration/focus (e.g., ability to interpret the work environment and make decisions on predetermined operating policies and procedure).

  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) hear audible alarms, voice commands with background noise; work in an environment subject to vibrations; lift/push up to 50 pounds with control.

  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) sit for prolonged periods; work in small or tight spaces; have the ability taste and smell.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Craftsworker job.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) work in outdoor weather conditions to include direct sunlight, heat or cold; use a highreach (aerial lift); use a motorized company vehicle or a leased or personal vehicle for company business.

  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather); work in extreme cold (non-weather); work in extreme heat (non-weather); use a Forklift (sit down); work with toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous chemicals, fluorescent lamps or batteries; work with paint/solvents; work with oils/fuels; work with aerosols (spray paints, brake cleaner); perform maintenance or servicing of powerized (energized) equipment (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical) LOTO.

  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) work on scaffolding; work with fumes or airborne particles requiring the use of a respirator; work with compressed gas cylinders or tanks; work on water attractions or yachts; be exposed to loud noise levels (noise when raised conversation is needed).
