Responsible to: AR Lead and AR Director
Job Summary: Responsible for managing of assigned account aging queues. Following up with insurance balances; and analyzing denial trends and coding edits. Assist patient financial counselors with inquires and phone assignments.
Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma required
- Strong accounting computer skills required
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT Codes preferred
Qualifications and Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in accounting, data entry or medical payment posting and medical collections
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Handle incoming phone calls
- Update patient and insurance demographic errors
- Review daily scrubbers and fix identified errors
- Complete write off, adjustments and transfers
- Review assigned queues and analyze accounts
- Respond to all emails timely
- Repost charges, adjustments and payments on accounts
- Complete appeal process with insurance guidelines
- Communicate with members of the team
- Research and advise patients and PCA of insurance updates
- Review and complete incoming correspondence timely
- Assist in training new team members
- Process Credit Card Payments
- Generate and monitor daily audit journals for errors
- Maintain current fee schedules by assigned queue
- Research insurance credit balances and follow refund polices
General Administration
- Maintains detailed knowledge of insurance denials and trends
- Works hours coincide with Orlando Orthopaedic Centers operating hours plus possible weekends when needed
Typical Physical Demands:
Work may require sitting for long periods of time and also stooping, bending and stretching for supplies. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operative a computer, calculator, copier, and other office equipment as necessary. Position also requires viewing computer screen and typing for longs periods of time, and working in an environment which may be stressful.
