SUMMARY: Provides the Technical Skills needed for the successful day to day operation of an assigned Entertainment venue, or event, to ensure show quality and a positive guest experience.


  • Responsible for the operation of the Technical Booth within the assigned venue or event including but not limited to the operation of lighting and audio in a live show situation.
  • Responsible for the appropriate installation and maintenance of lighting equipment, ground rigging and staging set up.
  • Accountable for assisting in maintaining venue or event specific inventory of all Technical equipment & pyrotechnic product.
  • Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment and pyrotechnic devices within the assigned venue or event.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Consistent attendance is a job requirement.


  • High school degree or GED required.


  • 1-3 Years: One to three years of experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING: 60 hours of company safety training, equipment specific training.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Emergency Repairs, Parts Assembly, and Forklift Operation preferred.


While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) stand; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tool or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) sit.
  • Specific vision requirements for this role may include: close vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g., sunshine to indoor or dark conditions).


While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) be exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather); and work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) be exposed to work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather); work with explosives.
  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) be exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • While performing this job, the noise level in the work environment is very loud.
