JOB SUMMARY (Briefly state why this position exists)
Repairs and maintains company vehicles and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tool, conveyors systems, and other equipment by performing the following duties.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONIBILIES
- Perform PMI’s on tractors, trailers, straight trucks, refrigeration units, and other equipment.
- Diagnose and perform all types of engine, brake, drive train, electrical, and A/C repairs.
- Test-drive all types of vehicles.
- Issue POs for all parts ordered on prior approval from management.
- Issue work orders for all work performed using shop’s fleet management system.
- Train and assist other technicians in all the above areas.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duties and responsibility satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two year certificate from college or technical school, with minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or eight (8) years on-the-job experience and training that includes a minimum of five (5) years repair experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
CDL Class A and ASE Certification in three (3) systems and/or EVT certification. If ASE or EVT certifications have not been obtained at the time of hire or promotion, they must be obtained within 12 months of hire date or date of promotion. Failure to do so may result in reclassification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is medium to heavy in nature. The employee must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. - 75 lbs. occasionally. Repair work requires excellent hand and finger dexterity. Must be able to pass the D.O.T. physical each time and the Professional; Truck Driver (DDC-PTD) test each year, a requirement of Sysco. There may be sufficient noise requiring the employee to shout in order to be heard. You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction. Trailer backing and forklift operation requires distance vision. In addition you must be able to perform manual tasks, talk or hear, stand, kneel, sit, reach, bend, communicate and interact with others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Activities occur both inside (protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside. Employee is periodically exposed varying climates with temperature ranges from zero to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. Hazardous conditions exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and working in high places.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED
Licensed to drive Tractor/trailer, Certified to use welder, grinder, cutting torch, forklift, pneumatic tools and a variety of hand tools.
