The Project Engineer, Structural will act as Owner's representative for all structural facility designs for an exciting international theme park project. The Project Engineer is responsible for reviewing all structural drawing and calculation submissions from Consulting Architects and Engineers and coordinating with all other disciplines, including coordination of ride and show systems. Additionally, candidate should have a high proficiency with international codes and standards, including the IBC and OSHA codes for maintenance and construction. This position is also responsible for monitoring facility construction demanding a high level of quality and providing weekly inspects of the project for quality and scope compliance. Knowledge of passive and active fall protection design desired.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in theme park design and construction, and will possess experience in primary steel rockwork design and rockwork construction techniques. Additionally, candidates should possess a high proficiency in design of piled foundations, and should have a strong working knowledge of geotechnical properties and construction techniques in seismic areas. This role will involve an international assignment for approximately 2 years in Beijing, China.

  • Preparing timely, accurate and complete peer review of all Consulting Engineering structural design submissions, including coordination of structural systems with all facility disciplines, as well as ride and show systems.
  • In coordination with Ride and Show and Park Operations, fully understand the maintenance requirements for ride and show systems and assist the Consulting Engineer with access requirements and fall protection systems as required to provide safe access to equipment and systems for maintenance.
  • During construction phase, proactively manages project to achieve quality, schedule, budget and safety. Utilizes and maintains schedule and document management to track and record project performance.
  • Inform management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management and review of applications for payment. Notify management of any issues that arise which affects quality, budget, progress and safety.
  • Distribute directives to contractors / vendors including drawings, specifications, and general conditions. Include any accepted alternates or addendums with documents. Assist Project Manager by reviewing all necessary back up relating to change requests and proposing a settlement value.
  • Submits building permit application, follow-up on review progress and tracks until approved.
  • Responsible for timely tracking receipt and completion of all required project and close-out documents per contract.

    EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree: Structural Engineering

    • Minimum of 5-7 years design/engineering and general construction related experience.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the construction field.
    • Strong and effective communicator, both verbally and written, who can interface cooperatively with various departments of the company, as well as Vendors and Contractors.
    • Possess good organizational, analytical and problem solving ability.
    • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
    • Proficient in use- Microsoft Project software, and Meridian Pro-Log management systems.
    • Represent the company at all times with high moral and ethical conduct Knowledge of project management software; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
