Problem solving, superior technical skills, and possessing the ability to use good judgment under pressure are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in our HVAC Technicians.

HVAC Technicians at Universal Orlando are responsible for:

  • Responding to quick calls and service as needed chilled water air handlers, walk-in coolers/freezers, exhaust/supply hood systems, direct expansion air conditioning and air driers. Assist EMCS/ECS technicians and communicate to customers as needed.

  • Performing preventative maintenance trouble shooting and repairs on air driers, direct expansion air conditioning, walk-in coolers and freezers.

  • Performing preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs on exhaust/supply fans and variable air box.

  • Performing preventative maintenance and repair on electric heat, heating boilers, and chilled water valves.

  • Performing preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs fly fans, and drinking fountains.

  • Performing preventative maintenance clean and, replace supply and return air vents, maintain insulation repairs on ducts and chilled water lines.

  • Assisting expediter by providing proper documents for ordering parts as needed for equipment.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Understanding and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

To perform the role of an HVAC Technician successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

  • High school degree or GED: Required.

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

  • 5-7 years experience with HVAC systems, DX systems and general HVAC controls; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Current state or county journeyman's license, valid Florida driver's license and Universal Refrigerant Certification (EPA).

  • Use of an Extendable Boom Forklift (Lull); Highreach (Aerial lift); and a scissor-lift.

  • Use of a motorized company vehicle (excluding carts, or vehicles listed in Equipment Operations above).

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the HVAC Technician job.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Lift greater than 25 lbs. or more

  • Complete repetitive motion (extending reaching, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting > 30x's per hour)

  • Climb vertical ladders, crawling under equipment

  • Work with chemicals and/or chemical related fumes

  • Require welding, cutting, brazing, or working with open flame

  • Work with compressed gas cylinders or tanks; cranes; pressure washers

  • Perform maintenance or servicing on powerized (energized) equipment (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical)

  • Transport fuels or compressed gases; transporting hazardous waste

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the HVAC Technician job.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Work with vibrating equipment/tools

  • Work on water ways, ponds or water attractions

  • Work in extreme hot/cold temps (working outside on roofs)

  • Be exposed to noise (example: having to raise voice to communicate to team members nearby)

  • Work at heights greater than 4 ft.

  • Work with waste oils/fuels, waste batteries, waste aerosols (spray paints, brake cleaner)
