We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the roll of Senior HVAC Mechanic. This position performs skilled mechanical work in the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration, air-conditioning and heating equipment. This posting is for two (2) vacancies.
Representative Duties

Supervises and directs the work of assigned employees. Coordinates with other craftsman as required.

Installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of cooling and heating equipment. Inspects and adjusts refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heating equipment and controls to ensure efficient operations.

Installs and replaces all types of pumps or refrigeration equipment, pneumatic valves, electric valves, heat transfer equipment, ventilation, and air distribution equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams, or other instructions.

Maintains and repairs heating systems. Maintains and repairs air-conditioning equipment ranging in size from domestic window units to large commercial chilled water systems.

Diagnoses electrical, mechanical, and controls for reciprocating and centrifugal systems.

Repairs or replaces pneumatic electric/electronic controllers.

Repair, replacement, or adjustment of worn or broken parts on condensers, compressors, air handlers, contacts, gearboxes and water and vacuum pumps.

Tests equipment for refrigerant leaks repairs or adjusts valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings.

Removes and installs motors, compressors, thermostats, and humidistats, adjusts expansion valves.

Adjusts or changes belts, replaces gaskets, hinges, and related hardware, adds gas to systems or units, and performs inspections for preventive maintenance.

Computer proficient in BAS system for one of the following manufactures: Johnson Controls, Trane, Automated Logic, and Reliable Controls. Obtains information and adjust parameters for a computerized BAS control system.

Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Up to three years of additional experience may be substituted for three years of the required education.
Successful completion of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved certification program as Universal Type technician.
Completion of basic coursework in the principles of refrigeration/heating. Additional certified coursework in one of the following: Electronics, computer, compressor tear down or controls.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Will be required to perform mandatory Emergency Standby Duty.
Preferences
Operational characteristics of energy management systems and related components.
Experience in HVAC maintenance in a commercial setting.
Experience in Facilities Management
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Advantage.
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
Experience with handheld computers (tablets).
Notes
All candidates selected for hire in the Administrative Services Department must successfully complete a Criminal History and Background check.
Hours will vary according to operational needs to include 2nd and 3rd shift and weekends if necessary. Normal work hours are currently 7:00am to 3:30 pm. The assignment for these positions will be at the Central Maintenance District and the East Maintenance District. However, this position is subject to assignment at any Facilities Management location, including 33rd Street Correctional Facility, due to project, task, or operational requirements.
