Minimum Starting Salary:
- Utility Service Worker I: $10.71 per hour, Grade L02
- Utility Service Worker II: $12.31 per hour, Grade L03
NATURE OF WORK:
Performs skilled work in the construction, renovation, modification, installation, maintenance/cleaning, and repair of wastewater collection systems. Perform lead and skilled work laying sewer lines and extensions, repairing broken lines, building and repairing manholes, assisting in the inspection and operation of high-velocity cleaning equipment to clean sanitary sewer lines, and may oversee/lead semi-skilled and unskilled employees. Required to work in adverse environmental conditions. May be exposed to raw and/or processed sewage.
WORK LOCATION: 5100 L.B. McLeod Road, Orlando
REGULAR HOURS are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but are subject to change based on division requirements and urgent work situations.
UTILITY SERVICE WORKER I: Ability to read, write and follow instructions. Six months experience in public works construction, maintenance, sewer system evaluation, pump station operation/maintenance, or repair activities. Required to pass an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator face plate. Must obtain security clearance and GOAA ID within 90 days of employment and maintain same. Florida driver license required.
UTILITY SERVICE WORKER II: High school graduate or equivalent, and two years experience in public works construction, maintenance, repair; and operation of mid-size/heavy construction equipment, preferably in the maintenance and repair of sewer lines and manholes and/or operation and maintenance of pumping stations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Required to pass an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator face plate. Must obtain security clearance and GOAA ID within 90 days of employment and maintain same. Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B required; Class A preferred.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE (FOR UTILITY SERVICE WORKER I) FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT. TO QUALIFY FOR UTILITY SERVICE WORKER II, MUST POSSESS CDL CLASS B OR A OR EQUIVALENT AT TIME OF INTERVIEW.
