PHARMACY ASSISTANT – JOB DESCRIPTION
The Pharmacy Assistant, under the supervision of a licensed physician and the Lead Pharmacy Technician, helps the physician to provide medication and other health care products to patients and consumers. The Pharmacy Assistant will perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication, such as entering patient demographics and labeling bottles. The Pharmacy Assistant will also perform administrative duties, such as acquiring signatures, answering phones, stocking shelves, and operating cash registers. The Pharmacy Assistant will carry out his/her work in compliance with all federal and state regulations associated with the dispensing of medications from a physician’s office.
Responsibilities

Receive written/electronic prescriptions and process the medication for physician to verify

Verify that information on the prescription is complete and accurate

Enter data in computer system, recording all prescriptions, purchase orders, requisitions and disbursements

Package and label prescriptions

Ensure that the security and proper storage of medications is maintained

Perform general clerical duties, such as answering phones, operating cash register, etc.

Respond to simple patient queries

Keep the work environment and equipment clean

Comply with all federal and state regulations

Uphold HIPAA regulations

Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures
Position Requirements/Qualifications
-
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in retail setting preferred

Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts

Experience using computer hardware/software and EMR

Customer-oriented and able to deliver outstanding service and attention to patients
Physical Demands
-
Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or carrying boxes.
