Assistant Exhibit Fabricator

Entry level, part time position in Orlando Science Center's fabrication shop.

Candidates for this position will have the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to assist in the fabrication of exhibits, props and educational assets through "on the job training".

Candidates for this position should have some basic woodworking and finishing experience and have a passion to learn further advanced skills and techniques.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work in a safe and competent manner
  • Follow directions both written and verbal
  • Keep the shop clean and well maintained
  • Organize and maintain general stock and supplies
  • Learn to service and maintain shop equipment
  • Learn how to safely operate various shop equipment and tools essential to fabrication

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic wood working and tool handling experience Ability to read a tape measure

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to read CAD files and drawings
  • Ability to work from hand drawn sketches and verbal concepts Dependable, reliable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Able to lift, push and/or pull 50 lbs
  • Able to climb ladder
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
