Position Summary:

  • Tunes electronic systems, subassemblies and parts and performs component level repair.  Conducts a variety of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical tests on avionics systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs functions associated with all electronic manufacturing and repair operations, including working with engineers in set-up calibration tasks, as well as, performing rework and quality testing to the production of components, subassemblies and final assemblies. 
  • Must demonstrate ability to tune, test, troubleshoot and repair analog and digital electronic circuit boards to component level with an emphasis on RF.
  • Must be proficient with standard electronic test equipment i.e. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, pulse generators and logic analyzers.
  • Perform product calibration, in-process testing and final acceptance testing and ensure all products are tested with compliancy to Avidyne strict quality standards.
  • Interface with Engineering and possess necessary skills to diagnose trends and reliability issues and provide detailed analysis as required. 
  • Assists in the training of other technicians and/or new hires.
  • Periodically assists in other production areas at the discretion of the production supervisor.  May be required to work over time.
  • Records defects and returns unit to assembly department for repair.

Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Must be proficient with standard electronic test equipment, i.e. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, pulse generators and logic analyzers.
  • Candidate must have good organizational and technical documentation skills. 
  • Certified in soldering to IPC- 610 standards for surface mount and thru-hole technologies desirable. 
  • Experience FAA FAR’S certifications or repair station environment is desirable.
  • Avionics, aviation background a plus.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Candidate will have a two year associates degree or other technical certification in electronics or equivalent experience.
  • Must pass with a score of 70% or above on a written technician test.
  • Four to six years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
