FUNCTION: Assists in the purchase and inventory of supplies. Assists in the development of center policies and procedures with regard to shipping and handling, internal requisitions and external purchasing.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains required files and documentation with regard to purchasing. Purchases and dispenses expendable supplies. Investigates cost of products, contacts sales people to solicit bids and purchase needed items. Adheres to all cost containment measures approved by center management and board. Maintains shipping and receiving operations as related to the purchasing department.
KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Must be computer literate. Ability to compile and analyze data, organize files and maintain accurate records required. Must be knowledgeable in the solicitation of bids, purchasing and supply dispensation processes. Must have good written and oral communication skills.
JUDGMENT: Sound fiscal judgment is essential to this position. Utilizes competent discretion in making decisions regarding customer relations. Views problems and issues from an analytical systems approach.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of one (3) years retail or equivalent purchasing experience.
Personal Qualities: Well organized, ability to manage time and complete work in a timely manner. Must be able to establish good working relationships with vendors, center management and staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Special Factors: Must be able to drive delivery van, load and unload supplies when necessary.
Essential Functions: Ability to make sound decisions regarding bids, purchasing and dispensation of supplies and equipment. The ability to work autonomously or in team with others is essential to the success of this position. This employee must be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
Staff Development: Completion of all administrative and competency requirements as identified in his/her Individual Training Plan.
