A warehouse selector may also be called a stock clerk or order filler. The job involves handling merchandise or equipment stored within a warehouse, most commonly products in need of transfer to chain stores or other retailers. It is a warehouse selector’s primary responsibility to make sure products arrive at stores efficiently and safely by selecting merchandise accurately and ensuring it is prepared for shipment properly.
To fulfill their priority responsibility, a warehouse selector must be able to pull products off warehouse shelves according to current orders.
The pallets need to be prepared by shrink-wrapping and labeling them for transport. Warehouse selectors need to be able to drive a pallet jack or forklift in order to take loaded pallets to the dock area of the warehouse and get them on the truck. On the administrative side, a warehouse selector is responsible for making sure orders coming in or out are processed, keeping accurate records of what is on order to which store, and to achieving daily order quotas, if necessary.
