As Product Manager, you will work with our network, distribution and design partners to define, create and bring products to market. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You will need to define requirements and create product presentations the clearly communicate our needs to our partners and our plans to our customers.

The Skystream products are currently under development and you must have experience in working with internal and remote development resources to enable them to meet the company’s product needs. You will need to understand the technical requirement of the products and capabilities of the engineering resources in great detail to insure a smooth development and entry to service process. You must enjoy spending time with prospective customers to promote our vision, better understand their needs and gain their interest in our efforts. You will develop the detailed product road map and make sure all constituents understand their role in making it happen.

You must be able to work effectively with all areas of the company. You will work with an engineering counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will work with sales to make them as effective as possible promoting the products. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, working with the sales channel and key customers. You will work with specific target customers and all areas of the company to open new market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes
  • Obtain product market share by working with sales director to develop product sales strategies
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
  • Represent the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on company products and services
  • Determine customers' needs and desires by staying close to existing and prospective customers and constantly being aware of the latest market information
  • Identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth
  • Maintain up to date competitive information and insure that all areas of the company are aware of the information and it implications
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
  • Create and maintain product roadmaps
  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
  • Develop clear market and product requirement documents to drive the product development process
  • Work closely with engineering teams to deliver products with quick time-to-market and optimal resources
  • Assist the hardware team in setting COGS targets and reducing COGs during product lifecycles
  • Create Pilot Guides and Installation Manuals  
  • Develop and implement company-wide go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute.
  • Drive product launches including working with marketing and sales team, executives, and other product management team members
  • Drive the 4 P’s (the Products, Pricing, Placement (i.e. distribution), and Promotion) to maximize the success of the product line.
  • Evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed
  • Participate in quarterly and annual sales team meetings help develop direct and dealer sales and marketing programs and promotions
  • Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding, including user forum management and participation
  • Analyze, solicit, evaluate, contract and manage existing or potential partner relationships for the product line.
  • Conduct market gap analyses for sales and business development opportunities
  • Manage product releases during the entire product life cycle
  • Prepare and implement SILs, etc. as required
  • Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to end of life end of service

Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in product development
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication and presentation skills

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • MS/BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent

Experience:

  • 10+ years experience in satellite communication, cellular network design, communication products design or similar radio-based communication products

Travel:

  • This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America and Europe (25%).
