SUMMARY

This role has day-to-day IT network, server/user support and maintenance responsibilities.Understand, identify, research, and resolve technical problems involved with administering and maintaining network infrastructure, including network connectivity, security, virtual/physical server infrastructure, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Providing planning, design, implementation and support of LANs and WANs using the latest technology with a focus on switching, routing, VPN, VLAN, Wireless and other network devices.
  • Secure network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access through proper configuration of VPN and firewalls.
  • Maximize network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; and network optimization
  • Conducting technology assessments, throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure network planning.
  • Provide upgrade, configuration and optimization of various network environments, including failover solutions and QoS.
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor Solarwinds notifications, and help update network documentation as the environment changes
  • Assist applications administrator with Solarwinds network monitoring administration
  • This position may require periodic travel (10% - 15%) and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays work during outages, maintenance windows, and during storm catastrophe occurrences.
  • Helps resolve IT corporate issues that include:
    • Advanced troubleshooting for security incidents
    • Wireless AP management
    • Assist in VMware administration (deploy and maintain new VM’s)
    • Assists with the inventory management of software licenses, software, hardware, and other IT supplies.
    • Outage Response and Escalation
    • Accurately prepares relevant IT-related status reports in a timely manner
    • Assist with mentoring and training of team members
    • Other daily operation tasks to be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop relationship within the system to enhance the appropriate flow of information
  • Strong Analytical skills and a self starter attitude necessary.
  • Experience with network security monitoring technologies such as Trustwave/Fire-eye, syslog tools, and Splunk a plus
  • Strong desire to work on smaller team with an entrepreneurial experience
  • Experience working in dynamic and fluid organizations within a small team environment a plus.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in a Network Administrator/Engineering role
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control and monitoring of network infrastructure
  • Strong Active Directory/DHCP/DNS knowledge a plus
  • AWS/Azure cloud experience a plus
  • Familiarity with security best practices and methodologies

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

College Degree Preferred and 3 – 5 years related experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Fortigate/Cisco/Microsoft certifications a plus.
