Responsibilities:

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and to coordinate total nursing care for residents; implementing specific procedures and programs; participating with the Director of nursing and the Unit Manager in establishing specific goals; determining work procedures and expediting workflow; ensuring compliance with all operating policies and procedures and State Department of Health regulations and Federal Health Care Administration regulations; communicating with and supervising appropriate personnel; providing daily reports and other periodic reports; perform all the duties of a certified nursing assistant when required. Works under the direction of and RN and/or Physician.

Essential Duties:

  1. Perform various duties to provide quality nursing care to residents to maintain or attain the highest of practical level of functioning, communicates significant findings to the RN and/or physician and to coordinate total nursing care for the residents.
  2. Supervise the certified nursing assistants and the unit clerk and determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, expedite workflow, evaluate, counsel and discipline.
  3. Ensures that certified nursing assistants and unit clerk and all supervised personnel adhere to standard job requirements.

Task List:

  1. Necessary documentation
  2. Shift Reports to the certified nursing assistants
  3. Licensed nurses are responsible for the knowledge of patient information through maintenance of accurate lists.
  4. Assessment of the residents for skin breakdown done by following the admission and quarterly Braden Scale analysis and by personal physical assessment done of the resident by the charge nurse at bath time weekly.

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved school of nursing; current State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Keeps License current in accordance with State’s Board of Nursing Regulations.

Skill(s): Proficient Reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; knowledge of drug interactions, side effects, and incompatibilities; decision-making skills; proficient assessment skills; minimal typing skills.

Experience: A minimum of one year experience in related nursing positions is preferred.

  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand and reach.
  • Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift items weighing 50 pounds or less.
