Oversees all financial system functions at the Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida plant in order to provide timely and sound financial information, accurate financial reporting, budgets and forecasts, solid internal controls and plant working capital management. Directs, participates in and implements the annual manufacturing budget, to include the establishment of cost center rates, line performance standards and product standard costs, monthly financial statements and working capital forecast and capital expenditure plan.
Tracks, evaluates and prepares reports on plant manufacturing performance against budget/forecast on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in order to identify areas of opportunity for improvement. Leads the plant annual budget and monthly financial forecast process to prepare accurate budgets/forecasts including tactics for execution. Prepares requests for capital spending authorizations and initiates the approval process for all investment project proposals for the plant operation. Incorporates the annual capital plan into the plant operating plan standards and performance metrics. Provides financial analysis for capital and expense projects, plant proposals and productivity initiatives.
Oversees the scheduling, auditing and reconciliation of all plant physical inventories (Finished Goods, Raw Materials and Supplies). Responsible for the monthly financial close process. Responsible for maintaining a perpetual inventory process, physical control, accurate accounting and tracking of fixed assets including assets in process. Establishes and oversees internal control practices and procedures in order to provide reliable financial information and guard the assets of the company, including account reconciliations and annual/quarterly audit support. Maintains a strong understanding of accrual and cash basis accounting practices and keeps abreast of legislative changes. Ensures compliance with company policies including expenditure approvals, employee time reporting and employee expense reimbursements.
Monitors expenses, working capital and plant performance versus budget and forecast and prepares the monthly management operations discussion and analysis including actions for improvement. Recommends financial policies in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the Company and ensures internal controls are in place. Plans, studies, and collects data to determine costs of actual business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor and overhead at the plant. Provides plant management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting process and profitability of products or services. Analyzes and reconciles monthly inventories both at plant and 3rd party warehouses. Provides proactive financial guidance, support and leadership to the plant management team. Work with plant management in preparation of pricing quotations for Sales & Marketing team, as needed for new projects or engineering revisions.
Assist production management with assessment of “continuous improvement" projects and processes, measure and report progress toward planned goals. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Business Management, Food Science, Food Technology, or related field, and a minimum of seven years’ experience in a manufacturing supervisory role and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Directly supervises five employees in the Finance Department.

Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient typing and computer skills including knowledge of Accounting software, Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software (MS Excel), Word Processing software (MS Word) and Email software (Groupwise).
