Primary Functions:

  • Collect and analyze in-process and finished product samples for conformance to quality specifications.
  • Record analytical data on score sheets and enter into computer database.
  • Inform appropriate Production and management personnel when analysis deviates from specifications.
  • Collect production and customer samples; pack and arrange shipping of samples as requested.
  • File Q.A., Production and USDA paperwork kept in Q.A. lab.
  • Control pumping of caustic cleaning solution to plant locations.
  • Prepare chemicals required for lab tests.
  • Perform minor maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure overall lab cleanliness and organization. Secondary Functions:
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Skills:

  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong math and written/oral communications skills.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, hand and eye coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to access work areas (climbing stairs).
  • Subject to adverse temperatures; requires lifting up to 50 pounds; requires organoliptic (tasting) skills; some personal computer skills required.
  • Ability to learn, analyze, and record results of lab tests.
  • Ability to perform the job functions in a timely fashion consistent with industry norms and the employer’s experience of the time required to perform the functions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and get along well with co-workers. Requires self-motivation and initiative.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a food production or laboratory environment.
