Lab Specialist, English as a Second Language
This opening is for general consideration for Lab Specialist positions within the Full Sail University Education Department. Lab Specialists ensure lab tutorials and/or lab assignments as defined by Course Director are completed. They maintain professionalism in the lab environment and assist students with technology and project implementation. Our Recruitment Department will consider your application for available career opportunities that suit your qualifications. All positions are full time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.
Duties will include the following:
- Assisting with the Writing Center and other student-centered activities regarding English composition students or ESL learners.
- Helping the ESL Program Manager in the management and proctoring of language and writing placement tests.
- Assisting the ESL Course Directors with the planning and execution of ESL labs and field trips.
- Assisting and collaborating with the writing center lab specialist.
- Keeping current with tutoring pedagogy and practice.
- Maintaining professionalism in the lab environment and assisting students with technology and project implementation.
- Assisting the ESL Program Manager in coordinating and implementing monthly Orientations and Graduations.
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four years related and verifiable experience or a Bachelor’s degree in the field of ESL, English, or English education. A Master’s degree TESOL is preferred. Other degree areas will be considered if the candidate’s experience relates to ESL teaching. Candidates applying will be reviewed for various open teaching positions. Depending on the course level, requirements will be varied based on our Accrediting Commission (ACCSC).
The candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills, experience with language tutoring, collaborative learning, knowledge of Internet tools for research and learning, the ability to help develop tutoring lessons, and experience working with international and/or ESL students. In addition to skills and experience, ideal candidates are self-starters who work well in teams and possess a passion for student learning.
