Provides business requirements for integrated systems used in collecting, managing and reporting on customer information including: web behavior, campaign response history, park visitation, and purchase history. These systems form the backbone of our integrated customer view and analytics programs. Helps define and optimize segmentation strategy using a variety of techniques, ranging from data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining. Works with internal clients to develop standardized and automated reporting that feeds marketing decisions across the organization. Partners with the Information Technology team to ensure best-of-class data management, analytics and reporting.
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct advanced analytics and consumer segmentation using applications such as SAS or SPSS in order to maximize the effectiveness of digital communications and drive marketing strategy.
  • Create, manage and regularly distribute critical marketing-related reports utilizing relational databases and reporting technologies such as Microstrategy, Cognos, SQL, Excel, and Access.
  • Provides business requirements for the Marketing Data Mart; including data elements (internal & external), customer data integration, and marketing capabilities.
  • Leads the design and development, in partnership with IT, of Business Intelligence platforms.
  • Identify system problems, communicate details and collaborate with IT to design solutions on a pro-active, self-directed basis.
  • Ensure compliance with Data Management Laws.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    SCOPE: This role is responsible for the design and management of segmentation and modeling practices that incorporate demographic and behavioral data from CRM systems, online tracking data and 3rd party enhanced data, in partnership with internal marketing teams, to enhance understanding and increase value by application of actionable segmentation and models. It is also responsible for design and management of reporting solutions and analysis which drive the strategy and optimization of digital marketing programs which, in total, contribute to more than $250MM in annual online revenue.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree and/or Certificate in Statistics/Data Mining is preferred.

OTHER: Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or related (or combination of business-related Bachelor's and Master's in analysis-related program) required. Advanced training in statistics and data mining preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 4+ years prior hands-on experience with database and/or digital marketing data including querying, reporting and analysis required; experience working with SQL and SQL Server required; proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products required; experience working with advanced reporting and Business Intelligence tools such as Business Objects, Microstrategy, R or SAS required; experience doing advanced statistical modeling and data mining preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with marketing, media and customer segmentation strategy required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced):
  • Must be able to develop and understand advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with the capability to program in VBA as necessary to accomplish necessary ends.
  • Experience with SQL and Relational Databases (advanced).
  • Must have thorough understanding of database structure.
  • Experience creating complicated reports including sub-reports, parameter based reports, graphical reports, formula based, well-formatted reports, drill-down reports, analysis reports, etc.
  • Working knowledge of databases including writing SQL queries required.
  • Excellent analytical skills required including advanced statistical and data mining techniques.
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving problems.
  • Ability to work directly with internal departments towards issue resolution/project release.
  • Ability to evaluate quantitative data sets and determine "big picture" implications required.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects required.
  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment required.
  • Proficiency communicating research results in written, visual and verbal form required.
