Amazon Raising Minimum Wage to $15, Attending Orlando Job Fair

Amazon Raising Minimum Wage

On Tuesday, Amazon announced they will be increasing their minimum wage to $15 for all full-time, part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees across the U.S. The new Amazon minimum wage go into effect on November 1 and will benefit more than 250,000 Amazon employees. It even includes all Amazon subsidiaries, including Whole Foods.

Amazon isn't stopping there. Their public policy team will also begin advocating for an increase in the federal minimum wage.

“We listened to our critics, thought hard about what we wanted to do, and decided we want to lead,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder and CEO. “We’re excited about this change and encourage our competitors and other large employers to join us.”

The increase in salary is huge when compared to the current federal and Florida minimum wages, set at $7.25 and $8.25 per hour, respectively.

This announcement comes just weeks after Amazon opened a new 2.4 million square foot warehouse in Orlando. The company will be hiring for many Warehouse and Shopper Team Member positions at the OrlandoJobs.com Job Fair. The Job Fair will take place from 10am - 2pm on Friday, October 5th at the Amway Center (register at OrlandoJobs.com/JobFair). With plans to hire over 100,000 seasonal employees across the country this holiday season, there should be plenty of jobs available.
