Walmart Adding 1,450 New Warehouse Jobs in Central Florida
On Tuesday, Walmart announced plans to invest $450 million throughout Florida in 2017 and 2018. They expect to hire more than 2,750 Floridians.
Walmart already has 375 facilities in Florida but as they continue to grow their presence in the Sunshine State, a large chunk of those jobs will come to Central Florida. The new Cocoa facility is expected to hire 450 workers while the e-commerce distribution center in Davenport will bring on an additional 1,000 or so employees.
Walmart's plans are the latest in their competition against the other retail giant, Amazon. Amazon recently announced discussions on a new 2.4 million square-foot warehouse just south of Orlando. As both companies build more warehouses to compete in the online retail market, they continue to create more jobs for Central Floridians.
