General Description:
The Senior Specialist, Safety and Emergency Preparedness actively and effectively participates in ensuring strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded; provides the management and oversight necessary to ensure assigned functional area(s) have the proper resources, metrics, and talent in place to effectively fulfill our mission to provide Healing Experiences for Everyone all the Time® and achieve organizational strategic (Game Plan) goals. This position assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for assigned functional area(s). This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Operations with matrix accountability to the Director of Safety and Security. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates operational planning within assigned functional area(s) to anticipate current /future service solutions.
2. Implements growth strategies to support achievement of Parrish Healthcare Game Plan goals.
3. Achieves departmental dashboard metrics within each strategic pillar (People, Service, Quality, Growth, Finances); takes immediate and effective steps to assure national benchmarks are achieved or sustained.

4. Assures compliance with departmental systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in assigned area(s) of responsibility and care partners always providing excellent service excellence as measured by national best-practice benchmarks.
SYSTEM RELIABILITY | QUALITY & SAFETY
5. Performs diversified duties related to Hospital Emergency Management System, including review, update, and drafting of emergency plans; compliance with the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP), and Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) and Emergency Operation Plan (EOP). Develops, maintains, and conducts emergency management training programs in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC), regional healthcare coalition, and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) criteria.
6. Serves as Safety Liaison for ACHA and Chair of the Environment of Care Committee (EOC). Must be available to respond to emergency situations 24/7, and assumes designated Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)/ Incident Command System (ICS) role during emergencies.
7. Assures compliance with systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in a continuous improvement environment within which assigned area(s) and care partners always achieve national best/leading-practice standards for quality and safety as measured by CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies pertinent to areas of responsibility, holding self and others accountable for actions and outcomes.
8. Responsible for the adherence to all Parrish Healthcare policies and procedures as well as regulations and codes established by federal, state, and local governments affecting professional practice and industry regulations. Leads necessary certification, accreditation, and audit procedures; and ensures that reports required by regulatory agencies are prepared and submitted within established timeframes.

Complies with systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in effective planning and administration of annual budget(s); productive, cost efficient and effective operations within assigned functional area(s); and effective corrective actions for any operating expenses that deviate from budget.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred within related field from an accredited college/university or equivalent combination of experience and education:
- 3 years college education + 5 years work experience;
- 2 years college education + 7 years work experience;
- 1 year college education + 9 years work experience; or
- 0 college + 11 years work experience
Work Experience:
- 3 years to < 5 years of experience in related area with two of those years being in Healthcare Emergency Management
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
- The following are required upon hire:
- Certification as a Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP)
- Certificate of Completion of ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 & 800.
- Professional Development Series (PDS), Advances Professional Series (APS), Hospital Emergency Response Training/Train-the-Trainer (HERT).
- The following are preferred upon hire or to be obtained within one (1) year of employment:
- Current Sigma Six Green Belt certification
- Certification as a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
