Graduate Nurse Resident Program

The Graduate Nurse Resident Program is designed for the newly licensed Registered Nurse. Candidates selected for this program will be hired into a Clinical Nurse Resident position. We are accepting applications from recently licensed RN’s with no RN experience or students graduating this semester from nursing school.

This program will assist in identifying individual learning needs, provide opportunities to develop new or specialty competencies and promote self-esteem and confidence in their ability to adjust to the RN role.

The Graduate Nurse Resident Program at Morton Plant Mease Hospital’s and St. Anthony's Hospital includes a basic orientation to patient care management in an acute care facility. The program is based on the premise that the new RN has a need for guidance, supervision and encouragement in their transition from student to practitioner. The new RN gains competence in clinical techniques and develops leadership and management skills under the auspices of a Registered Nurse Preceptor. Evaluations and feedback by the experienced preceptor are essential components in assisting in the new RN to identify learning needs.

The Clinical Nurse Resident cares for a group of patients with the direct supervision of a preceptor. Collaborates with the preceptor and demonstrates understanding of the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assignments are completed with increasing competence and responsibility.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Required Degree: ASN (Need to be scheduled to graduate by January 2017)

Preferred Degree: BSN

*All CNR's will be required to have their BSN by 2020

Required Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support)

Other Specific Skills Required: Team work and flexibility required.

Interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, computer skills appropriate to position, customer service skills
