Job Description Summary:

BASIC FUNCTION: The Bartender will serve drinks and food at the bar.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent. Two years restaurant experience. High volume experience. Good food and service knowledge. Three years bartending experience. One year fine dining or high-end resort experience. Extensive liquor, beer, wine and mixology knowledge. Pleasant personality. Excellent communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Interact with guests to take drink and food orders. Communicate with kitchen for food ordering. Ensure prompt delivery of food to the guest's table. Have working knowledge of liquor, beer, wine and food that is served at the property. Suggest pairings of food to wine or beer. Handle all checks and cash according to procedures. Ensure cleanliness of restaurant including polished flatware, clean glassware and plates. Be familiar with all property amenities and other restaurants. Compose and be knowledgeable of standard drinks and liquors or wines specific to restaurant bar. Be knowledgeable of restaurant menu and food items to sell to customers. Plan and maintain par levels for bar inventory. Prepare daily orders for bar items to maintain pars. Responsible for cash handling and bank procedures as outlined by the Accounting Department. Perform accurate bar inventory as deemed necessary by the Director of Restaurants or the Restaurant Manager. Responsible for learning suggestive selling techniques and using them during services. Maintain cleanliness of all workplace areas that apply to the bar.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule. Any other task, written or verbal, assigned by Leadership. Help out in other areas of the restaurant, including seating guests.

ENVIRONMENT:

Indoors, dimly lit, carpeted, climate controlled environment. Hard kitchen floors with occasional slippery or greasy areas. Handling hot china and silver. Outdoors, cement surfaces, with exposure to outdoor climate and elements.
