Overall Responsibility:

As a key contact within HMH, the Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with finance team members across the entire company to develop and maintain standard financial reports as well as provide decision support through financial analysis.

Additionally, SFA will assist with the administration of our Financial Planning and Reporting tool, SAP BPC (EPM10).

 

Responsibilities - Financial Analyst - 

Own and enhance existing standard reporting (30%) Field requests from various areas of the company and create reports that meet expectations Improve

Forecast / budget data submission process Gain efficiencies in expense surveillance reporting Gain efficiency in Forecast / Budget submission monitoring Provide insightful financial analysis (30%)

Go beyond being a report writer and draw meaningful conclusions from financial data Communicate results to the appropriate team members in a clear and concise manner Create presentations to be used by senior management Maintain BPC (15%) Update BPC dimension members

Validate and implement business hierarchy changes Assist business groups with data loading for budget/forecasts Train new users as required Maintain library of financial reports (15%)

 Ensure all reports are functioning as intended Validate numbers against core ERP Perform maintenance where required due to dimension member changes Maintain relevance of library; remove outdated or unused reports Other duties/ad hoc analysis, as assigned (10%)

Skills / Competencies Required: Skills:

Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office (Excel & Access as well as Powerpoint), SAP (or other ERP system), and excellent organizational and analytical skills

Competencies: Strong written and oral communications and listening skills Strong team player and self-starter Functional understanding of financial and operations business processes and reporting Ability to define and design business process and reporting within critical business applications

Ability to manage a project work plan in accordance with defined best practices Ability to identify and resolve issues Technical awareness of trends and issues in the financial software marketplace

Experience manipulating large datasets Strong understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow)

Preferred: Advanced knowledge of SAP HANA and it’s Analysis excel add-in, SAP BPC Experience with SQL and SAP R3 Master’s degree (MBA, Finance or Accounting)

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Highly self-motivated, with a team focused attitude
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Functional understanding of financial and operational business processes and reporting
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to understand financial issues and downstream impacts of those issues
  • Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office  and the ability to quickly learn complex financial and information systems
  • Experience integrating and analyzing large datasets
