HOURS:    40 Hours Per Week

Position Summary:
Perform duties to inspect new plumbing structures and alternations to verify compliance with EPCOT Gas and Plumbing Codes, RCES Site Utilities Construction Guidelines, and state codes, laws and regulations, guided by precedent and working within the limits of established policies. 

Essential Functions: 
•    Inspect all phases of plumbing and drainage system installations and repairs for compliance with the EPCOT Gas and Plumbing Codes, RCES Site Utilities Construction Guidelines, and state codes, laws, and recommendations. Issue written notices of code violations requiring corrective action. Maintain records of building and inspection activity, and complete related reports.
•    Perform plan reviews of construction plans and documents associated with proposed plumbing and gas installations.
•    Participate in Annual Emergency Power Tests. Test tasks include, complete worksheets, attend coordination meetings, and develop documents to archive, identify, and report on safety hazards.
•    Interpret code issues and recommend compliance procedures to contractors, builders and owners.
•    Conduct surveys of existing buildings to determine code violations or hazardous conditions.
•    Provide information and guidance to engineers and contractors as required. Assist in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues, either personally, by telephone or in writing.
•    Perform general office work as required, including but not limited to, attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, and maintaining files.
•    Coordinate meetings and inspections with personnel of other departments. 

Other Duties:
•    Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. 
•    Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned.
•    Regular, dependable attendance required.

Competency:
•    Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office and other required software programs.
•    Ability to safely and effectively operate worksite equipment as required by position.
•    Knowledge of state plumbing codes and related laws and regulations. Able to review permit applications and examine plans and specifications to determine compliance with all applicable codes.
•    Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
•    Must possess a valid Florida State Driver's license and maintain eligibility under the District's commercial vehicle program.

Education/Experience Requirements:
•    High School Diploma or GED (plus advanced coursework in plumbing trades education).
•    Five years of experience as a plumber, with time spent in supervisory position.
•    Current FL Plumbing Inspector License (preferred).
•    Current FL Plumbing Plans Examiner License  (preferred).
•    Current FL Plumbing Contractors License and Propane Gas License (preferred).
In lieu of current FL licensure, consideration may be given to those who can obtain their Provisional License within 120 days of hire and become fully licensed within 1 year. Licensure must be kept current – as a condition of continued employment.

Physical Demands:
•    While performing the duties of this job, an employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, touch, speak, hear, and see.  An employee is occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, twist, carry, climb, push and pull.  
•    An employee must lift and/or move small articles and occasionally lift objects up to 20 pounds. 
•    An employee must demonstrate fine motor skills and to be able to operate vehicles and other equipment. 
•    An employee is occasionally required to work in heat, cold and wet/damp conditions and to navigate uneven and/or outdoor terrain. 
•    Certain positions may require work above ground or in enclosed spaces.
•    Certain positions may have requirements of 50 pounds maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
•    Positions requiring strength demands in the Heavy and/or Very Heavy category have detailed physical performance analyses available for review.
