Position Summary

The Food Production Chef Assistant is responsible for the oversight of all food service aspects of contract meal production for morning production runs. He/she will be responsible for the production of catered meals sent to early childcare, summer and additional off site locations. Will ensure that correct HACCP, portions and menu compliance is maintained in a complete and timely manner. He/she is a working member of the food service team that actively participates in food production. Will meet with production chef to review morning production and receive daily assignments given.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Meal Production and Catering: Prepares and executes contract meal production under the direction of the Production Chef. Maintains production paperwork including: temperature logs, production and inventory tallies and cleaning and sanitation records.
  2. Kitchen and Equipment Maintenance: Keeps food and beverage service equipment and supplies operating efficiently by enforcing adherence to operating instructions. Monitors the performance of preventative maintenance.          
  3. Customer Service: Develops and maintains overall satisfaction by cultivating and maintaining relationships with Community Kitchen staff and students, vendors, customers and agency co-workers, as well as larger culinary community and volunteers.
  4. Health and Safety Sanitation: Maintains safe, secure, legal and healthy work environment by following and enforcing sanitation and quality of food safety and health standards and in accordance with established standard operating procedures; monitors conformance with kitchen inspections; enforces sanitation and legal regulations of the kitchen and all service areas and serves as a role model for foodservice staff, students and alumni.
  5. Efficiency and Urgency: Will plan production lines that will produce in the most efficient manner. Responsible for time goals for team. Will ensure that counts and components are in compliance

Job Specifications

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Commitment to understanding and supporting SHFB’s mission; shows compassion and an appreciation for hunger and poverty issues.
  3. Minimum of three years food service.
  4. Demonstrates strong culinary skills, understands and has experience with food and beverage activities.
  5. Prior experience with sanitation knowledge.
  6. Excellent organization skills.
  7. Detail-oriented.
  8. Current certification in HACCP and ServSafe
