Job Title: Housekeeping Manager
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Executive Housekeeper
OVERVIEW/POSITION PURPOSE:
Oversee all aspects of the day to day routines within the Housekeeping department, with direct responsibility for the Laundry, Villas and Public Areas cleanliness with good attention to details and quick decision making skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in giving direction to the Housekeeping department on a daily basis
- Oversee distribution of Villa Attendants paperwork, secure clock in/out policies, report any attendance infractions, all scheduling, villas and public areas inspections.
- Use Raven System to assemble and report accurate status of Villas to Front Office as needed
- Assign carpet, floor and upholstery cleaning to villas and public areas
- Secure keys, radios and flashlights turned in at end of shift trough Inventory Dispatch Department, ensure security of Housekeeping warehouse, inspect villa attendants’ carts at end of shift, and close the Housekeeping offices at end of day
- Conduct morning pre-shift meeting as needed
- Prepare work orders and turn in to Engineering Department as needed
- Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
- Inspect Villas and Public Areas
- Communicate with Management and supervisors to ensure the high level of expectations here at Give Kids the World
- Recognize achievements departments are making and create area celebrations for surpassing expectations
- Oversee and provide direct leadership to all staff members in Housekeeping
- As a member of the Management Team, exemplify and model our Core Values and hold direct reports accountable for same
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Management
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY/DIRECT REPORTS:
Housekeeping Coordinators and Staff
PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, and be able to use hands/arms to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Able to work in outdoor weather conditions
- Able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week, resort operation
COMPETENCIES AND SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Ability to enforce company policies and hold staff accountable
- Familiar with OSHA state guidelines for chemical use
- Detail oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Able to work with budgets, keep inventory control and make orders
- Ability to train others and be on hands if needed to help areas
- Decisive and creative problem-solving
- Skilled in mediation, negotiation, and compromise
- Sensitive to and flexible with regard to meeting the diverse needs of a variety of guests, staff, volunteers, participants, partners, etc.
- Oral and written presentation skills for diverse groups of varying sizes and dynamics
- Be able to communicate clear and concise both written and verbally in English, bilingual Spanish a plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor Degree preferred
- Two to three years of supervisory experience in hospitality
