Job Title: Vice President of Marketing
Department: Communications & Marketing
Reports To: Chief Strategy Officer
The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing the annual marketing strategies, campaigns, and plans that increase brand awareness of, and engagement with GKTW; as well as support the organization’s revenue/fundraising goals. This includes establishing measurable annual goals and the process for achieving them.
This position has four direct reports and nine total team members. It is responsible for all internal and external communications, public relations, and crisis management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Nurture existing stakeholders, identify potential supporters, convert them into active advocates for GKTW, and integrate them into the Village family so they remain connected throughout their lives
- Develop and implement strategies and marketing campaigns that drive potential and existing stakeholders to engage with GKTW. Strategies must drive digital traffic to the GKTW website and social channels to help the Village meet its financial goals and grow the size of its database
- Develop, track, analyze and report on outcomes and key performance metrics
- Directly supervise marketing team. Responsible for training, development, coaching and performance appraisals
- Ensure brand consistency while managing the department’s assets, including photography library, video library, media coverage, comprehensive media database, contracts, website, print and electronic collateral files, trademarks, reports and outsourced initiatives.
- Develop and retain GKTW champions by engaging stakeholders with the most compelling and targeted content at each stage of the stakeholder lifecycle
- Work with Public Relations Manager to manage all media contacts and messaging. Oversee crisis management and be prepared to serve as a GKTW spokesperson
- Prepare and disseminate budgets, monthly forecasts, and reporting for President, Chief Strategy Officer, Leadership Team members and GKTW Board.
- Exemplify and maintain accountability for GKTW mission, standards, and core values for staff and volunteers
- Represent GKTW at local, national, international conferences and partner events
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY/DIRECT REPORTS:
Overall team responsibilities: four direct reports, nine total team members
- Director Communications who has three direct reports: two Communications Coordinators who manage the executive letter process, and one Communications Representative/Writer
- Senior Communications Manager who has primary responsibility of trafficking projects through the department with two direct reports (Graphic Designers)
- Public Relations Manager
- Merchandise Manager
- Dotted-line reporting to part-time Webmaster/Programmer (direct report to Chief Strategy Officer)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to travel for overnight occasions
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart
- Ability to lift and transfer 25 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Experience with marketing communications strategy development and execution, digital marketing, copywriting, editing, media relations, graphic design, public relations, cause marketing and public speaking
- Strong leadership skills; ability to engage and inspire a team
- Extensive hands-on experience that includes brand building
- Highly analytical, data-driven, with a strong understanding of how to optimize digital marketing campaigns to meet GKTW’s goals and metrics
- Demonstrated successful peer-to-peer marketing and fundraising skills via digital marketing campaigns
- Strong creative and project management skills including: conceptualization, driving alignment, planning resources, managing deadlines and objectives, delivering analysis and recommendations
- Strategic planning abilities; ability to translate plans and ideas to action
- Management experience with creative professionals as well as marketing and operational professionals
- Takes ownership, solves problems and demonstrates a high level of accountability
- Excellent communication skills and ability to enlist cooperation among internal and external partners
- Full understanding of CRM / Social media principles and best practices through hands-on experience managing digital campaigns
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor Degree in marketing or related field, behavioral science is a plus
- 8 + years of marketing experience leading significant digital marketing and CRM programs, including email, loyalty, stakeholder segmentation in a B2C environment, agency and/or nonprofit
- Strong knowledge or ability to quickly learn Salesforce and Luminate Online
