Primary Functions:
- Collect and analyze in-process and finished product samples for conformance to quality specifications.
- Record analytical data on score sheets and enter into computer database.
- Inform appropriate Production and management personnel when analysis deviates from specifications
- Collect production and customer samples; pack and arrange shipping of samples as requested.
- File QC, Production and USDA paperwork kept in QC lab.
- Control pumping of caustic cleaning solution to plant locations.
- Prepare chemicals required for lab tests.
- Perform minor maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure overall lab cleanliness and organization.
Secondary Functions:
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills:
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong math and written/oral communications skills.
- Visual and auditory acuity, hand and eye coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to access work areas (climbing stairs; climb on tankers) .
- Subject to adverse temperatures; requires lifting up to 50 pounds; requires organoleptic (tasting) skills; some personal computer skills required.
- Ability to learn, analyze, and record results of lab tests.
- Ability to perform the job functions in a timely fashion consistent with industry norms and the employer’s experience of the time required to perform the functions.
- Ability to follow instructions and get along well with co-workers.
- Requires self-motivation and initiative.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a food production or laboratory environment.
- Laboratory experience preferred.
