The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida invites applicants to apply for the position of Civil Process Officer.

Job Summary:

Receives court documents to be served in Orange County.  Conducts minor investigations using various investigative tools to locate persons being served.  Serves court documents to defendants or respondents.  Maintains records, stats, and daily logs. Efficiently records time, date, and location of service including the method of service and who the document was served upon. Uses electronic tracking device that records an automated return of service to the Orange County State Attorney’s Office.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One (1) year work related experience.
  • Must have valid Florida driver’s license. Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) training if assignment includes driving agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver’s physical exam.
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include using word processing, email, spreadsheets, and database applications (e.g., Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, and get in and out of a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Duties are performed in both office and field settings. Considerable local travel is required.
  • May be required to work weekends, nights and/or irregular hours.
  • Exposure to inclement weather may occur.
  • Employee is required to locate defendant/witness; situation could be potentially dangerous.
  • Minimal exposure to bodily fluids and/or blood may occur.

Salary Range: $24,190 or $25,417 annually with 3+ years of experience
