Job DescriptionSummary: Works on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability to work with and/or without close supervision by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned. Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line. Bolts, nails, align, and blocks up under forms. Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. Levels earth to fine grade specifications. Mixes concrete. Smoothes and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete. Positions, joins, align, and seals pipe sections. Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces. Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection. Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces. Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices. Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring. Demolishes buildings, saws lumber, dismantles forms, removes projections from concrete, mounts pipe hangers, and cuts and attaches insulating material. Removal and replacement of floor and wall tiles. Miscellaneous wall rebuilds with a variety of materials. Concrete and tile excavation for plumbing repairs and troubleshooting. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: No Computer skills needed. Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
