JOB SUMMARY: On site LPN is responsible for assessing and monitoring the medical needs of children in the residential setting and ensuring that all children’s medical and dental requirements are met. LPN participates in organization’s continuous quality improvement efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Administers emergency first aid on site as needed.
- Oversees medication ordering, Prepares for distribution and dispenses medications prescribed by a physician.
- Assesses the health and wellness of program youth.
- Assists the psychiatrist with completion of orders and documentation.
- Performs on site lab work for children and employees.
- Schedules medical and dental appointments.
- Administers Drug Testing and TB testing for all new hires
- Orients and trains residential staff in medication policy and procedure, OSHA requirements, etc. Conducts First Aid and CPR for all employees as needed.
- Maintains good communication with medical and educational community resources.
- Participate in all intake conferences, psychiatric reviews, child progress reviews, and discharge conferences.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
· Licensed Practical Nurse.
· Associate Degree and 2 years experience as an LPN, preferably in pediatric field or child care environment.
· Psychiatric experience a plus.
· Bilingual preferred.
Licenses & Certification:
- Valid Florida LPN license.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension.
- Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance. Must be insurable under CHN’s current auto insurance policy.
- Primary schedule 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., occasional weekends.
- Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.
- Current CPR and First Aid Training Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General Nursing Knowledge.
- Ability to perform venipuncture.
- Experience in pediatric and psychiatric nursing helpful.
- Ability to interact effectively with traumatized children.
- Flexibility related to schedule and varied nursing duties.
- Computer literacy.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform all physical aspects of nursing functions noted.
Able to provide transport to appointments in company appointed vehicles.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Able to work in environment with frequent interruptions and moderate noise level.
Ability to tolerate occasional exposure to communicable disease.
