Applications Engineer

Position is located in Lake Mary, Florida

SUMMARY:

Provides necessary development and design of critical IT applications software products in support of core and network platforms, including determining internal and external customer requirements, architecture and systems design, oversight of Advanced programming and coding, and follow-up of design implementation and results.  Writes programs for systems patches, upgrades, conversions, etc. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Financial Institution Application oversight and configuration management of core Credit Union systems.
• Ability to create and support complex SQL reports and perform analysis
• Ability to write advanced code in a combination of the following programming languages: C#, C++, .NET, and Java.
• Advanced understanding of LAN/ WAN network environment
• Advanced understanding of Active Directory management
• Ability to write complex Active Directory scripts
• Install and test new software releases, patches and system upgrades.
• Responsible for assembling/managing project teams.
• Maintain Vendor contacts and relationships.
• Understand software QA concepts
• Understand rapid development methodologies
• Must be able to mentor new developers
• Provide Tier 3 support for custom software within the CFE environment.  Resolve support requests as required or escalate to appropriate vendor or internal IT staff and follow up to ensure timely resolution of the issue.
• Create and maintain documentation of Software configurations and support issue resolution.
• Consistently meet assigned project deadlines and goals.
• Ability to work On Call or provide After-Hours support in order to install, upgrade, or resolve issues with critical Software and/or Systems.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
• Maintain strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations.
• Create accurate and timely reports from Credit Union systems, ensuring data validity.
• Acquires and maintains an in-depth understanding of the technical and functional architecture of assigned systems and integration.
• Collaborate with business units, vendors and technical staff to achieve business results.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with both technical and non-technical staff
• Strong analytical skills
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requires at least 3-5 years previous applications programming and development/design, along with strong PC skills in SQL, C#, C++, .NET, Java, etc.  Previous experience within a large financial institution helpful; large data center experience desired.   Four year degree with emphasis on information systems, application design, development, etc. desired, or equivalent in additional job experience.
