The Bartender/Pool Bar Attendant (BPA) is responsible for all aspects of assigned at the bar and/or pool deck. Responsible for checking guests for proper identification, manages method of payment, and serves alcohol according to State, Federal and corporate liquor regulations. Prompt accurate preparation and service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food at the pool bar or any other designated area. Washes glasses and prepares garnishes and maintains bar area in a clean and orderly manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The essential job functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The BPA is required to implement and follow all guidelines and standard operating procedures of the bar and pool deck areas. The essential job functions and responsibilities may change with demand and happenings at the property on any given day.

  • Ensures that all guests are promptly and courteously served and that alcoholic beverages are not serviced to guests under the legal drinking age. If doubtful of age, bartenders will politely ask for proof of individual’s age in the form of an appropriate I.D. If still doubtful, the bartender will notify the Manager on Duty.
  • Continually observes guests and keeps a careful watch for intoxicated or unruly patrons. The Manager on Duty should be notified immediately of any potentially disruptive situations. Bartenders will not serve those guests who appear to be intoxicated.
  • Verifies cash bank at the beginning of assigned shift and maintains control of the cash bank throughout the shift. Closes out the register at the end of the shift, counts the bank, and prepares the cash drop. Properly records all transactions by using appropriate guest checks and the POS Register system.
  • Checks servers to ensure that proper prices are rung up and that correct garnish and glasses are used.
  • Prepares all beverages in accordance with standard specifications; uses a shot glass for all bottle-poured drinks. Uses Redline method when dispensing servers’ cocktails.
  • Stocks and re-stocks the bar in accordance with the bar par and resort standards. Ensures that an adequate supply of fresh fruit garnishes, napkins, juices, ice, etc. are on hand for use during the shift. Maintains a running inventory of items used during shift. Prepares liquor/beer requisitions to stock the pool bar and obtains necessary items from manager.
  • Performs all scheduled clean-up functions during and at the end of the shift. Ensures the cleanliness of the bar throughout the shift including continually wiping down the bottles and the bar, emptying and cleaning ashtrays, removing dirty glassware and dishware behind the bar thought the shift.
  • Prepares short order food items in accordance with specifications and retrieves food orders from the kitchen, when necessary.
  • Serves drinks and food at the bar and to the tables located in other designated areas, when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

ESSENTIAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 1+ year of experience as a bartender and/or server. Must be of legal age for serving alcoholic beverages. General knowledge of mixed drinks, beers, and wines.
  • TIPS & SafeStaff certification, preferred.
  • Previous guest service experience in a hotel, resort, theme park, or hospitality retail environment.
  • Must have good communication and customer service skills. Must be friendly with a helpful personality to handle guest relations in a pleasant, professional and effective manner.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Basic English in order to communicate effectively with all guests and other resort staff.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in hot conditions “outside” and able to work standing for extended periods of time; up to four hours in length.
  • Physically/Strategically able to gain access to areas and items requiring service, removal, and/or replacement. Activities may include but not limited to the ability to walk, bend, carry, squat, kneel, climb, crawl, reach, and stoop with at times some endurance to frequency with such activity.

Must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, fixtures and other items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be possess hand dexterity to operate hand tools and equipment
