Department:                            Housekeeping

Purpose of the Position:          Primary function is to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and safety in all public and back of the house areas. To promote, excellent public relations and 100% guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Stripe out linen, terry, and trash from vacant rooms
  • Lift and rotate mattresses quarterly
  • Follows OSHA regulations and all policies and procedures as set forth by Housekeeping Department
  • Cleans/maintains exterior grounds of building, sweeps floors and sidewalks. cleans doors, frames, signs, and windows
  • Cleans and dusty lobby areas
  • User proper chemicals when cleaning as described by department’s procedures
  • Immediately reports maintenance deficiencies, damage, or loss to Housekeeping Department
  • Turns lost and found items in accordance with hotel standards
  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned public and back of the house area
  • Operates and maintains the following equipment (once trained): vacuums, extractors, burnishing/buffing machines, brooms, wet-vacuums, and upholstery cleaners
  • Maintains the highest level of cleanliness of the following (once trained): carpets, tile, cement, marble, glass, and all other surfaces
  • Transfers and stocks all supplies from central supplies as directed
  • Ensures that Housekeeping storeroom is neat, organized, and secure
  • Assist in the cleaning and restocking of Room Attendant carts
  • Uses glass washer to clean glasses
  • Refills spray bottles with cleaning chemicals
  • Wipes down and/or cleans Room Attendant carts
  • Cleans chandeliers and wall lamps in hallways
  • Properly uses and maintains equipment and supplies
  • Maintains excellent condition of grounds, floors, carpets, etc.
  • Cleans ashtrays and ash urns
  • Cleans elevator doors, tracks and foyers
  • Washes doors
  • Vacuums, sweeps and mops hallways
  • Cleans interior windows
  • Cleans door jambs and fire boxes
  • Cleans and mops stairwells, cleans handrails
  • Moves furniture in rooms as required
  • Cleans spots on walls
  • Cleans spots on carpets
  • Assists Attendants by emptying trash, takes trash to the compactor
  • Cleans back of the house windows as need
  • Check all the vacuums used by Room Attendants
  • Completes in a timely manner all daily cleaning items for the specific public area assigned

  • Implement management company and hotels’ safety and emergency’s policies and procedures) i.e. evacuates first aid etc. To include removing all safety hazards, following company OSHA Hazcom programs and safe lifting techniques.
  • Inform management of any work-related problems or guest complaints
  • Practice “CARE hospitality” and provide guest satisfaction
  • Promote the hotel through goodwill and a positive attitude
  • Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings
  • Train other employees as directed by management
  • Continue to learn and grown in your position
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules
  • Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person(s) with disabilities

  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws ordinances as they apply to the hotel guest and employees
  • Know all emergency procedures (fire server weather, bomb threats, guest accidents/illness, etc)

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Must have a Valid Driver License
  • Good service skills
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team to consistently deliver a quality product
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Resilient Floor cleaning/polishing and carpet shampoo equipment etc.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Basic English language

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to handle objects, reach with arms and hands, push a carts weighing 100-150 lbs., and lift 50-70 lbs
