We have an immediate opening for a Clinician Documentations Educator based out of Florida to work remotely. JOB OVERVIEW Clinician Documentation Educators (CDEs) are responsible for collaborating with clinicians to offer documentation education to facilitate excellent patient care, reduce medical risk and comply with reimbursement guidelines. This role is to support and help hold clinicians accountable for complete and thorough documentation of their patient care activities. These goals are accomplished through initial clinician education, monitoring of clinicians documentation results, identification of areas for improvement and on-going training. Training is prescriptive based on needs regarding specific documentation needs, where utilizing industry and company best practices and documentation standards, along with current and trended documentation reports. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS According to the TeamHealth Documentation standardized process, organizes documentation efforts in an effective, efficient manner, while considering education of new clinicians, education of outlier clinicians, proactive ongoing education and education on targeted documentation initiatives. Analyzes and monitors assigned clinicians documentation and identifies improvement opportunities as compared to industry and TeamHealth benchmarks; utilizes mid-month and month end reports that reflect results of individual clinician and specific facilities. Works with RMDs/FMDs to ensure new clinicians are offered a thorough orientation ideally within their first week, but definitely no later than 20 days of hire date. New" clinicians may be recently recruited physicians or midlevel practitioners who joined a TeamHealth division via a new facility contract or merger/acquisition. Offers clinician specific, individualized feedback illustrated through examples of their own documentation and how it crosswalks to various medical coding components and legal implications. Conducts clinician education via a variety of means (e.g., face-to-face, Web Conferencing or e-mail). Face-to-face, one-on-one education with clinicians to address individual improvement is ideal. Communicates in a timely fashion to clinician regarding any changes to the current documentation requirements and medical coding criteria as dictated by a governmental agency, payer and/or TeamHealth. Interacts with various hospital personnel, as needed, to facilitate the charting process and allow for billing of the clinician's services rendered. Assists RMDs/FMDs with deployment of templates and corporate documentation initiatives related to Hospital Medicine documentation and coding to their facilities accompanied by related education and support of clinicians. Interacts with RMDs/FMDs concerning outlier clinicians with undocumented services and positively strategizing on how to affect these clinicians future documentation. Understands and utilizes the Escalation Policy concerning outlier clinicians and lack of documentation improvement after appropriate education efforts have been exhausted. Updates the Director, CDE and receives feedback regarding 30/60-day Action Plans, which outline targeted clinicians, their specific areas of improvement, training methods to be utilized by clinician by facility (face- to-face, one-on-one; individual conference calls; face-to-face group session; Web Conferencing; THI Online, etc.). PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS The physical and environmental demands for this position are: Primarily performed within a modern hospital setting; Frequent travel (out-of town and overnight; via vehicle and commercial/commuter airplanes); Moderate to heavy stress levels; Occasional lifting, bending, standing, stooping and reaching; Moderate to prolonged sitting; and Moderate to prolonged work at a PC/computer. Occasional work in evenings and on weekends. JOB QUALIFICATIONSThe job qualifications for this position are: Education: Bachelor s degree in related field preferred; and/or Proven applicable CPT and ICD coding experience; coding certification preferred; willingness to receive coding training and sit for coding certification; Experience: Hospital Medicine coding experience; preferably 1 3 years; Clinical expertise is required preferably in an Hospital Medicine setting, coding expertise and/or nursing experience desired; Experienced in working with physicians regarding documentation education; Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance background very beneficial; Skills/Abilities : Strong analytical and statistical skills and experience. Must be results-oriented; Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management); Excellent interpersonal skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with small and large group presentation skills; Excellent organizational and time management skills; Ability to support multiple persons, tasks, and deadlines; Ability to handle stress and conflict; Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
