Central Service Tech, Sterile Processing Dept, HRMC, Full-Time

Job Description To be fully engaged in providing Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by providing clean, sterile instruments for surgical procedures and providing efficient and timely disbursement of needed supplies. Primary Accountabilities Performs proper decontamination, assembly, wrapping, sterilizing and distribution functions of instrumentation and equipment within quality standards. Demonstrates initiative combined with rapidity and accuracy with preparing supplies and instruments within a limited time frame. Has knowledge of instruments, properly assembles and wraps items for sterilization. Properly loads and unloads sterilizers and inspects supplies before sending to proper location. Completes and documents accurate tray contents using pre-printed count sheets. Has operational knowledge of steam, and gas plasma sterilizers. Pulls all cases for OR to include supplies and instrument trays in a timely manner. (as applicable) Performs assigned housekeeping and stocking duties within the department. Maintains accurate records including biological indicators/sterilization records. Participates in in-service programs. Knows washing/decontaminating/sterilizing equipment and possible reason for malfunction. Ability to use computer system for generatingpreference list. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to read and write in the English language for effective communication and record keeping. Certification with IAHCSMM preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination. Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to lift, turn, pull, and push equipment up to 90>of the assigned shift. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33>of the assigned shift Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90>of assigned shift Potential for exposure to bio hazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases.
